Welcome to the home of the 7Sport Racing Team.

Our right-hand drive 1979 Mazda RX-7 was back on the track for the 2006 season. The car has seen many improvements since it's days as an Improved Production car in Australia. With a bridge-port 13b, 51 IDA Weber carburator, 2"/3" stainless exhaust, and a MazdaComp transmission we had high hopes for the season.

We had entered in the 2006 Westcoast Sportscar Championship at Mission Raceway Park and expect to run 4 of the 6 WSC races. The WSC is a time-based class series (bracket racing) with minimum lap times for 3 of the classes, and we were running in P2.

Class Min Lap Time
P1 any
P2 >= 1:19.000
P3 >= 1:23.000
P3 >= 1:27.000

A few additional bars have been added to the roll cage (thanks Chris Beere), new safety harness, and a new helmet. On top of that we have overhauled the brakes, got some new tires, and gutted the old wiring harness and built a new one. The engine was rebuilt at Staff's Auto with a very nice bridge-port, 3mm carbon apex seals, high compression rotors, new rotor housings, some oil mods, opening up the 48 IDA Webbers to 51 IDA, and whatever else we could think of while we were in there. We've also installed a Madzacomp 4-speed close-ratio transmission, and a custom 2" dual to 3" collector argon purge-welded exhaust system.

Due to a failure of the new EGT sensors to work properly, and the driver (no names mentioned) not retiring the car when it was running a little hot, we lost an apex seal on the second race event. Luckily there was no internal engine damage so we fitted a new set of apex seals, opened up the porting, and put it back together. We decided to install the fuel cell, new aluminium radiator and oil cooler, and modify all the front end duct-work and sheet metal to accommodate all the new hardware and improve cooling.  Unfortunately we ran out of time and money and didn't get the car back on-track before the end of the season.

We are hoping to have everything back together with new EGT's, surge tank, fuel pump, and finished metalwork by mid-season and make a run for a few points and some prize money.

We'll have the Spec's, Results, Photos, and Videos pages updated soon, so check back for our in-car camera action of the fender bender in Turn 3!

A special thanks to Greg and the guys at Staff's Auto in North Vancouver for all their assistance in making this all come together.
